Weirdo at the library

February 29, 2008

I went to the local library yeterday and I was at one end of it looking for DVDs to borrow.   This guy walks up to the aisle and then turns around and walks away.   I figure it is some father looking for his kid in the movie section.   One minute later he does the same thing, I sort of give him a look.   Then a third time, this time I watched him walk back towards the other end of the library.   He was walking at a pretty brisk pace.   I was at the library for about 10 minutes and the guy did his little course the whole TIME.   It was weirding me out and probably others.   I asked the women behind the desk if they knew the guy or if it was a regular thing and they said no and that they were a little bit weirded out too.   The guy seemed harmless wanting to exercise inside instead of outside where it is cold but i really felt like going up to the guy and reminding him that the library is not the appropriate place for this kind of thing.   I didn’t I left it in the librarians hands, hopefully they told the guy where to go.   I will tell you this, if I see him doing it again, I will do something about it.

The Showdown

February 29, 2008

I have always been intrigued by those “eat this whole steak and you get it free” things some restaurants put on.   I have never actually attempted any of them but I saw an interesting one last night at Philthy McNasty’s.   It was the “Showdown Burger”.   It is a 1.5 pound burger with cheese and bacon and of course fries.   The challenge is that you have to finish it in 7 minutes.

America’s Smartest Model

February 28, 2008

I can’t believe it has come to this.   Man reality TV is getting worse.   I thought they hit rock bottom BEFORE.   The worst part, Ben Stein is hosting.   Do they have to drag him down with this.   It is airing on CITY TV tonight.   What wiki says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America’s_Most_Smartest_Model

Nip/Tuck Finale

February 22, 2008

I won’t really spoil it unless you ask me to.   I have to say, as much as I have complained about the season, it has been a fine one.   The only reason I was disappointed is because I was expecting something different and I didn’t get it.   Either way, I think you will enjoy the season because it has everything that previous seasons have had including a crazy killer or two!   The finale also does a great job of creating suspense by putting certain characters at cross-roads.

The Last Day

February 19, 2008

The last day of my trip wasn’t very eventful.   I ate eggs cooked by my buddy’s girl.   But the eggs had tons of veggies and I didn’t finish it but i tried!    Parents picked me up and we went to airport.   On the plane, we had TVs on the back of every seat and we had choice of programs.   This was AWESOME!   I got to choose from TV shows like: Dexter, How I met your Mother, Two and a half men, Without a Trace and more.    I also got to choose from movies like: Superbad (I do NOT suggest watching this beside your Mother), 3:10 to Yuma, Bourne something, Jerry Maguire, Ace Ventura, The Gameplan and tons more new movies!    This was great except for the fact that some choices didn’t work and my Dad’s didn’t work period.   So he bitched to me the whole time and I couldn’t enjoy the programming.    We landed and then we picked up my cat from my Grandparents and then we drove home.   That was it.   That was my vacation.

Day #7

February 14, 2008

Mr. L’Oreal said he would come in the morning around 9am to pick me up, go swimming and then go to Banff.   Him and his girl didn’t arrive until after 1pm.   We still went to Banff but we didn’t do any swimming.   They then drove me back to Calgary where I would stay the night.

Before stopping at their place we made a pit-stop at a comic book store/record store.   My friend it was really cool and I pretended the comic store was cool but I didn’t think it was anything special.   I found some $1 bins in the back with books that are just two-three months old and wondered how the place was still in business while my friend bought some records.

Next I finally got to see their place.   I expected to sleep on their couch but they had a bedroom all ready for me!   I was very appreciative and treated them to dinner at their favourite Vietnamese place.   We then decided to all “sally”-out and go back to their place and watch a movie then go to bed.   It was funny just hanging out with them again.

This is the Lake Louise hotel created using salt. It looked tasty but we weren’t allowed to touch it.

An Ice house on top of Lake Louise.

The piece of snow in the middle a mountain. It is so far away from me that when I am taking this picture if a piece were to fall off of that mountain the sound coming from it will take over 10 seconds to get to me.
Very far away.

Day #6

February 11, 2008

I will be honest… I stopped writing in my journal after the first 5 days so I am writing this from what I remember.   It was friday, we decided to go to Lake Louise to enjoy the view and to of course, ski.   I will post pictures later but I have to say the view was incredible.   They have a hotel right beside the lake where we found an ice carving contest and some other interesting shots but in the end, the view of the lake between these big mountains was amazing.

The skiing was tough because these were the biggest mountains we have skiied yet.   My Mom, wanted to go down a whole run without stopping.   I wasn’t sure I was up to it but I decided to go for it.   I went first and 45 seconds into the run I hit a rock or something and almost fell.   I stayed standing and kept going.   About 30 seconds later my leg felt like it was having a stroke… the worst part is, I am talking about my good leg.   I got down to the bottom without stopping but needing to catch my breath.    I figured i would have a minute to do so while I waited for my Mom.   She arrived at the bottom 5 seconds after me.   She was all cheery.   I felt very out of shape.

One other interesting story from this ski trip is a gondola ride my Mom and I went on up the mountain.   We were sitting across from a young couple and my Mom started “small talk” with them.   They said they were from New Zealand.   My Mom immediately starts talking about the Austrialian open tennis tournament being played that week.   The guy was nice and seemed to try to go along with the conversation (it is a 12 minute gondola ride) although I couldn’t tell if he knew what sport my Mom was even talking about.   After that my Mom mentioned that there seemed to be a lot of Austrialians around Banff.   The New Zealand girl agreed.   My Mom continued to talk about it but I heard something my Mom didn’t.   When the girl agreed I sort of got the idea “I wish there were less”.   Now I remember watching a comedy about how New Zealanders and Aussies don’t get along so I think this conversation is going bad but I couldn’t exactly elbow my Mom to tell her this so I just sat back and enjoyed it.

In the evening, watched the Raptors win again.   I had tickets for this game but I had to give them away because of the trip.   That reminds me, my Dad hasn’t given me the money for them yet.

Two pictures I talked about earlier….

Skis attacked me!Where I slept while on vacation

Day #5

February 8, 2008

My body is aching from all my workouts and all the skiing.   So I slept in.   We went to some natural hot springs which was not as “cool” as it sounds.

Didn’t do any workouts today, just letting my boy prepare for two days straight of skiing.   Played a lot of cards over the last two days.
