The Wedding

June 23, 2008

Chrissy got married yesterday.   Let’s just get the main part out of the way, they went through with it.   Nobody backed out or anything.   Although at the same time they didn’t risk anything by asking, “Does anyone here have a reason why these two should not be wed?”    But in the end, the bride and groom seemed to enjoy themselves and had a wonderful day.   Now for some hilights:

- Chrissy’s crazy sister never showed.   I heard that there was somebody in attendance who looked like her and it confused/scared some relatives.

- They had a belly dancer perform, I thought her performance was pretty good although with the way the Bride described it, I thought it would be more racy.

- I drove Janet’s date to the wedding, I had never met the guy so I assumed he was new.   I wasn’t sure why Janet would bring a new boyfriend as a date to a wedding when she is in the bridal party and wouldn’t be able to spend much time with him.    He seemed cool and we hung out together quite a bit and ended up sitting at the same table.

- I finally got to meet some people I have heard so much about but never met like Laurie and Saba.   Saba was the only girl at our table.    But she didn’t seem to mind as Peter and I kept her entertained.

- Peter is one of the bridesmaid’s boyfriends.   I worked with him years ago and hadn’t seen him in awhile.   I was impressed with his memory as he mentioned events from almost 10 years ago with such amazing details.   Impressed and a little bit weirded out.    But at the same time, Peter was a little bit weirded out because when I first saw him, Janet’s date didn’t identify himself and Peter seemed to think that her date was my roommate or something.   I told Peter, “Hell no”, not that anything was wrong with that.

- Speaking about that subject, there were a couple of gay couples in attendance (one at our table) and one of them actually sang a song or two….. in drag.    He was great although I have to say, it wasn’t a sight I ever thought I would see at a wedding.   It was funny there were kids sitting in the first row debating if the “Queen” was a “he” or a “she”.    I tried complimented the performer afterwards but I think he took it the wrong way.   I decided that I wasn’t going to apoligize if he was going to get dramatic.

- At one point, I said “Hi” to Janet’s Mom who was in attendance.   Once again, Janet’s date didn’t really identify himself although Janet’s Mom knew who he was (he had never met her).    I was really finding it curious that Janet’s date wasn’t immediately offering information to people that he was with her.   At one quiet point later, I asked Janet about it and she told me “That’s weird, we have been going out for awhile, I wanted him to come to my birthday thing last month.”

- During the vows, Chrissy got pretty weepy and could barely make it through them.

- Last week, Chrissy told me that some girl who would be in attendance is a whore.   I spent the night trying to figure out who it was.   Mind you I didn’t walk up to every one of them but was scanning the room, it was tough there were so many choices.   In the end, Janet told me at the end of the night that the whore in question did not show up.    I was surprised because a few dressed the part.

- Chrissy’s matron of honour almost didn’t make it through her speech.   Not overly surprising since she is going through a lot right now in the love department.

- There was this one cute girl who if she stayed longer, I would have asked to dance.   I spent the first half of the evening trying to figure out who she was.   I shocked to hear her name was Tanya since she looked like a “Tanya” I knew before but there was no way this could be the same person.   I also confirmed that she is a co-worker of Chrissy’s.   I told Chrissy to hook a brother up.

- In the groom’s speech I didn’t get mentioned.   I only introducted the two of them and went on their first date with them.   Ingrates, Chrissy better help me with Tanya.   Although I have to say near the end of the night, the groom did come by and mention that if it wasn’t for me, then none of this would be happening and he thanked me then and introduced me to his Father.   Still I wanted the spotlight for a minute, which is surprising because I usually like to hide in the background.

- The food was good.   They had some great pasta, chicken and rice.

- At the end of the night, Chrissy was dancing with her new hubbie (Note: Chrissy was very scared of dancing but by the end of the night she seemed perfectly comfortable out there) when I found Janet standing, watching.   We were getting ready to leave because there was only around a dozen of us left and I was driving Janet and her date home.    Janet started to cry and I told her I could find her date to help consoul her and that was when she finally admitted that he was just a “fake boyfriend”.   She felt she needed to bring one because everyone else in the wedding party had someone.   I told her she didn’t need to do something stupid like that.

- I feel I am forgetting details, if I think of anything else, I will update.

Bob’s New Clothes

June 18, 2008

My Dad came over for a visit yesterday.   He had a box with him.   I asked him “What’s in the box?”   He started telling me about how my parents were at Sears and there was a sale and my Mother decided to buy me new clothes.   I told him, “I have tons of clothes in my closet, some never even worn, what would make her think I need more clothes?”   That is when my Dad reminded me of how WIGSF picked me up from my parents place last month.   He said my Mother was impressed with how WIGSF dressed.    I laughed and then noticed that my Dad wasn’t.   I thought it was a joke because whereever we were going that day, WIGSF was probably over-dressed for it.   My Mother now thinks I should over-dress for stuff.    Damn you WIGSF!!!

My new cellphone

June 17, 2008

It is a 580i. It is a walkman, phone, camera and has tons of other features I don’t know about yet. I haven’t had time to read about it and I have had it for a month.    I have been trying to figure out how to create my own ringtone but this thing doesn’t seem very user friendly.   One smart thing I did was that I got it a protective shell because I can be clumsy we cellphones.    But the main reason I am writing this blog is because of the pedometer feature the phone has.   I didn’t even know about the feature until almost a week into having the phone.    At that point, I made it my goal to walk 5000 steps a day or 5 kms a day.   Whichever is easier.   I am just short of it right now at 4965 steps a day but there are days on weekends where I am running around my condo and the phone doesn’t leave the charger until the evening.   But you know what, still not an excuse.   I need to get that average up.   That is my goal.   I nice mid-year resolution.
