Halloween

October 31, 2008

I was invited to 4 different Halloween parties.   One was at a club… definitely not my type of thing.   One involved going to a bar… with the group of people involved, it wasn’t a horrible suggestion.    One was in Hamilton…. no thanks!   The last one was with people from baseball in Richmond Hill.   I don’t plan on going to any of them.   Here is why:

1) I am not that big on Halloween right now.

2) I orignally planned on going to a sporting event tonight.

3) I really want to see a movie that starts tonight.

4) I don’t have a costume.

Now really #2-4 could be overcome if it wasn’t for #1and two of the parties were definitely enticing.   In the end, I think I am just staying in and watching a “scary” movie, the sporting event and having some friends over.   But a part of me really wants to go to a couple of those parties.   I guess I am a sucker for the sexy nurse costume.

Chick’n'deli

October 30, 2008

After basketball yesterday one of my teammates wanted to hit a bar.   I went along, he wanted to go to Chick’n'deli.   I had heard some interesting things about the place and it was exactly as it was described… except it was karaoke night on top of it.    Damn there was some old women there.

Forget the steps

October 28, 2008

I will not be doing any more updates on the whole, how many steps I took with my cell.   I have made some changes to it and the goals just aren’t worth keeping track of.

But over the last three days three separate people have told me I look like I lost some weight.   So either I am wearing clothes that are deceiving people or maybe I actually am doing something right.

Shooting the Moon!

October 21, 2008

My laptop has had internet problems lately.   So I found myself sitting there with the laptop wondering what I am doing with it.   I then decided to play HEARTS.   Haven’t played the game in years.   So I have started playing it and last night I was playing and I thought the guy across from me (“Will”) was trying to “Shoot the Moon”.   It is amazing out of 10 games this guy shoots the moon more then the other two combined.   He is good.   So I decided to try and stop him last night.   Take 4 points and then let him take the rest.   I took the one trick and then tried losing but I couldn’t.   Everything I played they undercut!   I was kept trying different options, cursing the whole time.   Finally as I played my last card I shook my head in dismay, I don’t know how these guys screw me every time, they must be cheating.   That was when suddenly the screen showed that I had “Shot the moon”!   I thought a heart had gone by earlier.   Somehow I by accident “Shoot the Moon”!   I had never seen that before.

What does the word “Soulmate” mean to you?

October 15, 2008

That is a question I have been posed and I couldn’t believe what other people’s definitions were.   I believe that a person’s ”soulmate” is the person that they love with all their heart, a person that they want to marry.   So in my case, a female.   A couple of my friends don’t see it like that.   They think a “soulmate” could be anyone.   The two I am talking about are practically married but the girl said that her boy isn’t her ”soulmate” her childhood friend back home is.   Who is right?   Who is wrong?   Or does the answer lie somewhere in-between?

Dictionary.com has this definition: “a person with whom one has a strong affinity.”   Go to the wiki page on soulmate’s and you will find that it is part of a series on ”love” and makes it sound a lot like it involves romantic love.    What do you think?

HIMYM – Oct. 13th

October 14, 2008

I thought that last night’s episode of How I met your Mother was great, the best of the season.   I know some critics will say that they utilized the cutaway flashback too many times but I thought the cutaways were funny and I enjoyed the episode.   It started with Barney trying a new pick-up line.   It was awesome.   There was also Robin going uber-Canadian, which was fun.   Then it went to the cutaways as we saw tons of interventions.   Barney also got to try a new way to pick-up women.   The one weak part of the episode is where Ted convinces everyone to do an about-face…. twice.   Convincing everyone to stay was fine but then turning around and convincing them to do the opposite two minutes later, that wasn’t cool.   Still a lot of memorable scenes/lines.
