Twitter – really?

March 31, 2009

I am not 100% sure what the whole “twitter” thing is although my cousin tried to explain it to me on the weekend but I look at it as the latest fad that I can’t believe people are getting into.   Actually edit that, I understand why celebrities are into it but I can’t believe normal people like (for example) WIGSF feel the need to “twitter”.    It seems like a useless exercise.   I remember a friend saying this weekend, if somebody wanted to get ahold of me then they know where to find me, on the telephone.   What happened to those days, what happened to that person?     This is where I would usually give “twitter” a deadline before people stop using it but I honestly don’t understand our society anymore and am not sure if it will continue forever.

I learnt something new about Morgan Freeman

March 30, 2009

I had no idea he was a regular on the TV show, “The Electric Company”.   I also never knew he was ever that young or that he could “sing”.

Zan enjoys being a whore in a video game

March 27, 2009

I was playing video games online with Zan a couple of days ago.   We were playing the game “Saints Row 2″.   Neither one of us had played the game in a long time.    We decided to do this mini game which usually involves us driving a whore around while she services somebody in the backseat.   we have to keep the press off the car while they do their business.    We wondered how it would work with both of us in the car.   It worked out that one of us had to get in the backseat.   What was especially funny was listening to Zan’s character make excuses for his horrible performance.    At one point he said something along the lines of “That has never happened to me before, must be cause I was in a coma for 5 years.”    While hearing that come out of my TV, I heard Zan over my headset talk about how much he is enjoying being a whore in the backseat.   He really seemed to be enjoying himself.   Honestly, I never want to be in the backseat of a car with him ever again after that experience.

Wendy’s Frosty Milkshake

March 26, 2009

I saw the existence of this new menu item on the weekend.    My family hit the drive-thru and as tempting as the item was (three frosties were purchased that day) I did not buy anything from Wendy’s.   But I knew that I had to at least try the milkshake at some point.    Thing is, that is what I always wanted the Wendy’s “Frosty” to be, a milkshake.   I would usually let them melt quite a bit when I am eating them.   So I am surprised it took them this long to actually start selling this item.

Yesterday, during my lunch break, I walked to Wendy’s and ordered the milkshake.   It was not what I expected.   It took almost two minutes to make and they put whip cream and a cherry on top.   I am not a fan of cherries but I decided I would have the full experience.   It tasted alright.   I am not sure if they mixed the syrup enough because sometimes its taste was a little bit strong.   I ordered “Chocolate fudge” because I prefer it to strawberry or “Vanilla BEAN”.   But it was funny as I ordered it the girl behind the counter didn’t seem to understand.   I guess it is really new to them too.   The thing wasn’t cheap.    Overall I wasn’t impressed but I am willing to give it another chance but I am not going out of my way to do so.

Harvey’s makes your Hamburger a beatiful thing for 50 years!

March 24, 2009

I found out on “How I Met Your Mother” last night that Harvey’s doesn’t exist in the US.   I thought it was one of the big fast food chains just like it is here.    So I did some googling and I found out that not only is Harvey’s celebrating its 50th anniversary but the first location was the local one in Richmond Hill.    I had no idea that Harvey’s origianlly started in my hometown!   That is so cool.    I have been very good this year, haven’t gone to fast food joints except for a couple of isolated incidents but because of this, I am definitely visiting that location sometime soon.

How not to pick up an Australian Woman

March 23, 2009

- Don’t talk about New Zealand as if it was the same place as Australia.

- Don’t talk about “shrimp on the barbe”.

- Don’t try to convince them that you are part Australian or you have some connection to the country.

- Don’t mention Kangaroos or Dingos (especially ones that could eat your baby).

- Don’t imiatate their accent.

I saw a lot of these strategies used on saturday night and just shook my head.   Really in the end, just treat the woman like any other woman.

I have been Set-up!

March 19, 2009

My Grandfather called yesterday.   He wanted me to visit him in the hospital but I couldn’t figure why.   His voice wasn’t clear.    I asked my Father to find out.   My Father called me back later and told me that my Grandfather wanted to set me up with a nurse.

My Dad then told me this wasn’t the first time.   When I went to the “policeman’s ball” a couple of weeks ago, that was SUPPOSE to be a set-up.    It seems the woman in question did not show up (either that or she showed up, saw me and turned around and left).    It seems it is my Grandfather’s goal to try and set me up with someone.

Boston in Africa

March 18, 2009

Boston got back yesterday and he told some funny facts about Africa:

- In one country in Africa (I am not sure which) KFC was like their Tim Horton’s, it was on every corner and in every town.   Make what you will of that.

- In Ethiopia, the celebrated the bi-centienal last year.   Their calendar is much different than ours.

- Speaking about passage of time in Ethiopia, they don’t use clocks.   Ask them what time it is and they look at the sun.   Therefore “midnight” doesn’t exist there because they don’t have words to represent different times in the middle of the night.

- Boston is talking about swimming in the ocean.   He says, “I am very afraid of sharks.”   Cahill responded, “Who isn’t?”    How true.  Not a story but I thought that was the line of the night.

Peanut butter and bananas

March 17, 2009

I was at a little cafe on the weekend and they had a milkshakw with with bananas in it.   I haven’t had this kind of milkshake in years, it was good.   Thing is, I hadn’t looked at the menu.   On the menu they had a milkshake with bananas and peanut butter… I had never heard of such a thing.    I was intrigued.   I didn’t purchase it because one shake is enough for one day but I asked a friend about it.    They told me they use to have peanut butter and banana sandwichs all the time as a kid.    I have never had it.   But I have decided I must try it.

Oh and happy St. Pattie’s Day!
