Flight cancelled

April 30, 2009

This is a follow-up to a blog from a while back where I said I wanted to go the extra mile to win tickets to see the Flight of the Conchords live in Toronto.    I was willing to lie in radio concerts.    Problem was that I never heard a radio contest with tickets to FOTC as the prize.    People on craigslist and ebay were asking for hefty prices for the tickets.     So I didn’t end up going.    I am not sure if they will ever go on tour here again.     I had no idea how truly popular they are.

When on a diet, don’t do this

April 29, 2009

On the weekend, a friend said, “Let’s order 100 wings, I have never seen 100 wings.”   So we did.   I thought this also meant that the three of us were going to try and eat all the wings there at the sports bar.   I was in-correct.   Once I saw the other two wimping out,  I stopped but I already had ate 25 wings.    My scale was not happy when I got home.

Yesterday, I had some bacon in the fridge that was going to go bad.   So I had some at breakfast and finished the package at dinner.   My scale once again, does not like the decision I made.

Why does no one read my blog?

April 28, 2009

1. Is it because it sucks?

I will say this, if I knew I had a bigger audience then I wouldn’t write these things aimed at specific people.     I think if I did that then it wouldn’t suck so much.

2. Is it because I don’t network with other bloggers?

I think this is the big one.    I look at a successful blog like WIGSF’s and I know he is always checking out other people’s blogs and writing back.    I don’t and therefore I am not networking and getting people to check mine out.

3.   Is it because of some reason I know nothing about?

What about the weekend?

April 27, 2009

There are some weekends where I want to have some sort of recap but I don’t want to seem like I am copying others.   So I decided to come up with a name and here is the first official “What about the weekend?”

Friday: Wonder Twins came to the ‘hill to celebrate the day.    We tried going to a restaurant I wanted to go to… but I got confused and we ended up at a much different place.   The place we ended up at was a banquet style Chinese restaurant.   It was an experience.   My wallet does not want to go again although the food was good.    Jayna loved the place, they ordered a duck and they brought it to the table first to present it before cutting it (it was already cooked).    Afterwards there was much debate about where to go next, Jayna wanted to play pool, we went to the Honest Lawyer since we hadn’t been there in awhile.    Christy lives around the corner, called her up and she ditched her husband and joined us.    It was fun, I kicked butt in pool.   Very busy there but nothing exciting happened except for discussing plans and such.

Saturday: Went to Hightower’s place to have some beers and watch some hockey.    I was invited to two different parties and I had concerns with both.    I thought the only way I could even get close to trying to do both was by hanging out with Hightower, Boston and the boys first, then go to the other party after.

Around 11ish, I went to this party put on by a buddy from basketball.   It was on summerhill.   I got there and the organizer was the only person I knew there.   Nobody else from the basketball team was there.    I tried to mingle and meet people.    I also got involved in some spirited games of flip-cup.    It was a lot of fun and I found out that the stories I have heard about law school students/grads is correct, they do know how to party.    Eventually this couple from basketball showed up (let’s call them Eastwood and Tori).   I hung with them for a bit.   At one point I talked to this one girl for 5-10 minutes.   After we parted ways, Tori came over and I gave her an update on how it was.    Although I barely know Tori, it was nice that she was encouraging and supportive.

Sunday: Zan is getting into basketball.    He likes the Celtics, I told him he had to watch the Celtics/Bulls series.    To make sure of this, we planned on watching basketball sunday afternoon.    I got there at 1:15 and we watched two over-times worth of great basketball.    Jayna watched some too.    We then watched bits and pieces of the rest of the games but we also went out to this chicken wing place out in scarborough called “So Go”.    It had 100 flavours but very little in descriptions.    It is a lot cheaper for chicken wings there then Wild Wing or Allstars.    The place definitely gets an A+ from me.    Across the afternoon we had a few adult beverages and watched a couple of movies too (The Rock and Beverly Hills Cop).    It was a fun day but I didn’t get home until midnight.

Overall it was a fun weekend although I didn’t get enough sleep.    I am not sure if I will be doing these weekend things because usually I would try and turn these events into 2 or 3 separate blogs and that probably works best for me.

A day just like any other day?

Or could this one be different? Should I hope for something different today, or should I give up that dream?

Trane Studio

I went to this jazz bar tuesday night with some friends.   We made reservations for 7:30.   I got there a little bit late and my friends were already there.   We were the only customers in the place.   Some older men were setting up their instruments.    A few minutes later they started playing and we were still the only people in the place.    It looked like a cool place but I think we were there on the wrong night.    My buddy who suggested the place, he told us afterwards that his friend only played their every two weeks.    Maybe next week!

I win again!

April 21, 2009

Last night, I went over to married friend’s place and we weighted-in and I won again!    They keep betting that they can lose more weight than me and they keep losing.   We are going to try and go for another month.    Time to turn it up a notch yet again!

I saw the Leafs win the Stanley Cup yesterday

April 20, 2009

I saw that movie, “Love Guru”.   I didn’t think it was as bad as everyone said.   It was bad but it had some funny moments, I think there is even one part that WIGSF would find funny.    That is all.

You can’t peanut butter it in her ass!

Last night my basketball team had its championship game.   It was a physical game with a lot of people going to the floor.    The game is suppose to be a timed game but there is no league official in the building.   We were down 1 point late, I remember hearing the other team call out two minutes left, then they dribbled the ball around for a bit playing keepaway before turning it over.   We quickly went back down and our best player hit a fade-away jumper with two guys jumping at him.   As the ball went through the net, the girl from the other side said “Doesn’t count, time’s up, we won.”    All hell broke loose with arguing.   That wasn’t the way to end the game for a variety of reasons.    The girl claimed she shouted out that the game was over before the shot but from what we saw, she didn’t say anything and her team was still on the floor defending their butts off.    Also, you don’t end the game on a turnover.   With no league official there, the game should end with a made basket, that is how we did it in the past and it works.    In the end, we believe the game should have gone to overtime but the other team seemed to chicken to do it.

Went to a social league function after the game last night.    Our captain talked to a league official and they agreed that was no way to end a game.   We were deemed co-champions.    Don’t really want to share the honour with this other team but it is better than the latter.     Plus I got a T-shirt that says “Champs” on it.

What is the difference between jam and peanut butter?

The title there is just a dirty joke brought to you by HIMYM.

Speaking about my calories intake yesterday, all through the morning I was keeping track and I wasn’t doing as well as the day before but after talking to some people, I was told that my calorie intake on monday might not have been as healthy as I thought it was.   I might have cut too many calories out.   I need to find a happy median.    That is one reason why I didn’t continue to count calories yesterday.   Another reason was because I visited my Grandparents last night.   I couldn’t exactly ask my Grandmother how many calories are in the pasta she made now could I?
