What a difference a division makes

By Bob

Last year I played with a 3-pitch team with some beginners and people who hadn’t played baseball in a long time.    I helped lead the team to victory two seasons in a row.   I was a rock at third and for once I was playing like I was a franchise player.   But we were in the recreation division and this year the team moved up and I am no longer the difference maker.   Although I haven’t been playing well, the team hasn’t had the same success and I am unsure if I was playing at the same level as last year if the team would be any better.    Right now the team is fighting for their playoff lives.    I really want to find a way to make it happen.   I need to raise my game and somehow get some of the beginners that we have on the team (we added new ones) to raise their game too.   It will not be easy.

In the end, I guess what I am saying is that when I was on the team last year I felt like a hero, I felt like a superstar.   I also got to step out of my brother’s superstar type shadow.   I no longer have that feeling.
