My co-worker brought in cookies. They looked like pure chocolate. I took one and took a good bite. She started to say, “Guess what is in it?” I started to get worried I wasn’t sure if I should take another bite to identify what is in it or if I should just wait for her to tell me. Another co-worker was also eating one cookie, she started guessing. In the end, I found out the cookie had tofu in it. EWWWWW!!!!

August 31, 2009Steven Seagal gets his own TV show

Dis and Dat
August 27, 2009I had some trouble blogging from work, I am not sure if I am somehow firewalled from there. I guess we will find out for sure tomorrow. Until then, I am just going to do bullet points on things I would have blogged about all week:
- York baseball finals have begun, we had Game 1 last night and beyond a rough last inning, we kicked some ass and we got the win. So close… monday is game 2.
- I am rocking the playoff beard for the moment. It is getting bushy, I hope we don’t go to game 3 at York.
- My brother is moving into my place next week, I am not sure for how long but I am not worried about him, I am worried about Noah who would also be moving in.
- I joined e-harmony again. Nothing interesting going on yet but you never know when I might have an update.
- My job has confirmed that my job is safe for another year. I am still not permanent but I might be signing a contract. That would be another step in the right direction and I might get a pay raise out of it.
- Some teachers from work have become principals, which means that some new teachers will be entering the office, one that walked through today looked cute but I am not sure if she is married or anything. We will see.

August 24, 2009Wedding moments
August 21, 2009As I was driving home from the wedding I had 5 separate wedding related blogs all ready in my head. I wrote nothing down and now 5 has become 4. But the good news is that I forgot some hilights in the monday entry so I will list some more stuff here:
- Louis was the father of the bride’s “helper”. I have decided that is the best term for him. He is a short late 30s latino guy with an accent. When we went to the bride’s family’s house he was there serving drinks and helping to keep everything stocked. Late that night he hung out with us and he was a lot of fun, I will never look at the word “enjoy” in the same way. I was mingling at the wedding and I saw Louis and started talking with him about all the women at the wedding. He looked for his favourite women there while trying to tell me to go after girls in Metro’s family. We talked how one of them could be illegal and he said something about how he couldn’t go back to jail. That was when he told me some story that involved him being a car with a guy doing crystal meth and he ended up in jail for 45 days. That was over 5 years ago, I decided not to ask about any jail stories and when on my way. I later saw Louis on the dance floor he was tearing it up and at one point had two women dancing with him at the same time (when one of their husbands saw how they were dancing, he pulled his wife away). He was a fun guy.
- Feeling guilty about the night the couple met. Over the last two weeks I was reminded of some of the details about the night the couple met. It seems I was a little bit rude to the bride to be that night. Many people who talked to me say that I had good reason but I still felt bad and hoped no speeches mentioned what happened (none did). I did talk to the bride about it briefly and I made an argument that if I hadn’t asked her to leave the party then Metro might not have gone after her and made his move.
- More about Tony Soprano. I found out that his fiance’s pregnancy is a planned one. She has diabetes and was told if they wanted to start a family it was better to start earlier than later.
- The speeches made everyone cry. They were very sad. The Bride talked about her Mom and Metro, he got us to continue crying, which I found surprising.
The first Annual Boats and Hos Weekend!
August 20, 2009That is what Cousin Bruce named the weekend. There were a lot of little hilights, I will probably not remember them all so they will probably be mentioned in future entries:
- We were going up to a cottage on an island for the weekend.
- After driving up there in the middle of the night, we arrived at the dock at pretty much 5am. We then had to wait for somebody on the island to see us and come over in a boat and pick us up. There was a dense and spooky fog coming off the lake. We decided to have a beer while we waited for almost 20 minutes. Finally we all hopped into the boat.
- The boat was a little fisherman’s type boat and we had packed a lot of stuff on it so that we would only have to make one trip. But we had 6 guys on it and the boat felt like it could sink. Cousin Bruce was freaking out, he had a boat tip on him before. I tried to keep him calm by asking him about his family and stuff. When we got to the island, we watched an episode of the Chappelle show then went to bed.
- We went to bed, forgetting about these two other guys who were coming up later, a part of us believed that they were going to get lost along the way because drunken Metro had given them the directions. Actually I will be honest, I didn’t forget about them, before I went to bed, I went out to the deck, tried looking in the direction of the boat launch but there was so much fog that I couldn’t see halfway across the lake. In the morning, Haim, burst into my room looking for Metro (not that we would be sleeping together, he just thought Metro chose that room) and saying he thinks the guys were over at the boat launch. I decided to go over with him and it was the guys. They were swimming at the time. It seems they arrived about half an hour after we arrived to the island and they were stuck over there for about 4 hrs waiting for us to come back for them.
- The family who owns the cottage had two dogs, one of them bullied me one morning by barking at me after I made a trip to the outhouse. Nobody else was around and I was worried that they dog was going to attack me. Eventually somebody else came to the door and with a witness there I was comfortable attempting to walk around the dog.
- We had burgers and hot dogs, drank beer, we had a fire, we did some manual labour, drank beer, we watched a lot of Chappelle show, we did some swimming, relaxed and drank beer. It was a good weekend. It was a cool place, Haim had created a barge which was great for boating and swimming off of.
- It was decided that we would have two official “Boats and Hos” events per year, one in the winter and one in the summer. The winter one is suppose to be ice fishing. Not my thing but I am willing to go along and drink and have fun.
My Wedding Party
August 19, 2009No, you didn’t miss anything. Just the wedding last weekend got me thinking about if and when I got married how big would my wedding be and who would be my groomsmen. First, I know that I have one friend who I would hope could be a bridesmaid, course that would depend on her relationship with my fictional bride. Course now that I have said that, I guess I would have to assume that my bride might want to take up one spot on my side. I am assuming that I would have 5 guys in my party much like Metro did on the weekend. So only four spots left:
- My first question is… I need to have my brother in the party, but is he my “best man”? It is a tough question. I think for the purpose of this, I am not going to name anyone as the best man.
- Now only three spots left and four people at the front of the line. This sucks, do I need to lose a friend?
Way I look at it, Zan, WIGSF, Metro and Boston are all candidates. How can I be expected to pick from them? Looking at that list makes me wonder if I really need to assume that my brother should be in the party. I guess I could try some sort of random competition but truly, is that fair? I am glad that I don’t have to make this choice anytime soon because I have a feeling that no matter what I do when the moment comes, I am going to feel like a dick at the time. I guess in the end, I can cross my fingers that my fictional bride doesn’t have anyone that she wants to be my groomsman and then the only tough part is choosing my “best man.” God that sounds gay.
The Women at the Wedding
August 18, 2009There were a bunch of pretty women at the wedding, a few of them were on Metro’s family’s side, I decided those were off-limits. That limited the single girls I could talk to. Some hilights:
- The bridesmaid I was partnered up with was really cute and showed some nice cleavage but she was bride’s step-sister and she had a boyfriend. Damn.
- In the receiving line there were two women who didn’t really identify themselves except where they are from, Calgary. Both were pretty but one was really more my type of girl. I saw them later alone at a table so I talked them up for a few minutes. Also found myself on the dance floor dancing in a group setting with one of them to a fast song. One problem with the whole thing is that since the girls were from Calgary, I think deep down I talked them up more because I knew there was less chance of anything happening with them and since they knew very few people at wedding I also figured they needed somebody to talk to.
- There was this other girl who looked kindof cute and single, I talked to her a little bit but I never really got an opportunity to separate her from some of the friends she had at the wedding.
Wedding Week!
August 17, 2009I decided to make this a theme week, this one is wedding week. Mr. Metro got married this weekend in a nice ceremony up at a golf course. Fun was had by all. I also think I have enough wedding related material to go for the whole week. To start I am going to run through little hilights from the day:
- My Parents attended the wedding, my Mother somehow ended up at the front of the conga-line.
- Mr. Polish was there with his fiance and his parents. I heard his appearance compared to Tony Soprano, by a couple of other guys. I laughed at them until I saw Mr. Polish inside and I noticed they were right. Also it seems Mr. Polish is aware of the resemblance and has been using it to his advantage in certain situations. So that is his new nickname when it comes to this blog.
- As I said before the wedding ceremony was at a golf course, it was a hot day. The tux was killing us. We all felt sweat going down out legs, we were dying.
That is all for today.
15-1
August 13, 2009That is my York team’s regular season record. We lost a game this week, but I don’t mind. I didn’t like the pressure of the winning streak. It also reminded us how to deal with losing. Playoffs start next week and we are of course the favourites but we need to try and find a way to nurse injuries and get some momentum. Next week should be an interesting week at York.
