Reid’s Dairy – Richmond Hill has closed down. I went there last week to buy some egg nog for my brother and it was closed at 4pm in the afternoon. I got out of the car for a closer look and there was a sign typed up by the manager saying “Thank you for your patronage but we are closed down” or something to that effect. This came as a big surprise to me especially since it was just a month or so ago that they changed their name from Reid’s to Quickert or whatever the founder’s name is. I thought if the business was having trouble then they wouldn’t take the time to go through all the name changes. I stand corrected. I still remember when the location was originally openning, I was so excited. I remember I was like a kid in a candy store. Now where am I going to get chocolate milk for cheap?

It is a sad day….
October 29, 2009Raptors are back!!
October 28, 2009The NBA season kicked off last night with the marquee teams playing each other. Tonight the Raptors face one of those marquee teams as Lebron and Shaq visit the ACC (ex-Raptors AP and Super Jamario also visit!). I knew that trying to get tickets to this game would be costly so I didn’t even try, instead I was cool with watching it at home. In the end, I will be out watching the game with my basketball team at a bar (skipping basketball with baller).
Now I don’t usually do this (it is more of a WIGSF thing) but I am going to make some NBA predictions. First, San Antonio Spurs win the championship. Lakers, Cavs, Celtics and Magic are good but I think the Spurs if healthy can take them. How do you stop a line-up that can have a 19 ppg player as their 4th option? I can’t believe they stole RJ like that. He would have been perfect for the Raptors. Speaking of the local team, I think they will make the playoffs, probably the 6th seed and probably with something like 43 wins. Check back at the end of the season to see if I was right.
How did he do it?
October 27, 2009The third college kid from Super Troopers (the one who ate the weed at the beginning of the movie) married Christina Hendricks. Christina Hendricks is the hot redhead from TV shows like Life, Firefly and most recently Mad Men (which is what she is well known for). I think she is amazing and I can’t believe she married a guy who looks like Gollum. Here is a picture of the guy in Supertroopers and a picture of her just looking awesome.

Do you agree with me?
My favourite Chinese lunch place
October 26, 2009I have been going to the same place off and on for 5 years. What i liked about the place was that you served yourself and whatever amount of food you can fit in the container you would get for $5. Also I could have short lunches by going to the place.
The place has changed ownership and names twice since I started going there but I felt lately that the food was on an upswing. I was going there more often (although it wasn’t good for my waste line). I have been going to a lot of schools lately, so I hadn’t been by for the last week. I went in on friday and found out that the newest ownership had made yet another change. It was no longer self-serve. Instead of being about how much you can fit in a little container it was just like every other Chinese place in a mall, it had different prices depending how many items you wanted and they had special prices for rice with a roll and chicken balls and stuff like that. My jaw almost dropped. I turned around and walked away, I never plan on going back.
Don’t get a flu shot!!
October 23, 2009First, I am not believing the hype when it comes to the swine flu bullshit. The chances of getting it is slim and the chances of dying from it is even slimmer. Any ways, I heard about this story on the radio today, it is about a cheerleader who got a flu shot.
Nip/Tuck is back, which means Matt is going to find a new level of ****ing up!
October 21, 2009I saw the season premiere of Nip/Tuck last week, man it was good. I forgot how much I miss these guys. Mario Lopez and Rose McGowen have joined the show. One person I have not missed is Matt. Man, I don’t want to spoil stuff but I have to so if you care about the show and don’t want to be spoiled stop reading now. Matt is living with his Dads and he decided to try a new occupation. He has decided he wants to be a mime. I will give you a minute to consider this.
So there Matt is on Venice Beach, with mime make-up doing stupid stuff. I know, I know. He gets his ass robbed and ends up trying to buy a drink at the end of the day. He tries to order the drink without talking. The woman behind the counter was not impressed, I wanted to hit him through the computer screen. In the end, Matt found that he didn’t have enough money for the drink, tried being cute in order to still get the drink and he was un-successful. He must have been really thirsty because he pulled his prop gun out and held the diner up.
Linda Hunt and Newman guest-starred in the episode and Julia was back in New York with the other two children, let’s hope she stays there. Episodes are on wednesdays.
Free Chicken
October 20, 2009I haven’t been to KFC in over a year. In a couple of weeks they will be giving away free chicken. I just might have to visit them for that. On Nov. 1 they are giving away free Boneless Chicken Fillets between 2-4 pm. If you are still in line and they run out of fillets or the promotion ends then you get a raincheck. Limit of one fillet per customer.
A new Poutine Restaurant
October 19, 2009At least it is new to me. I think it has only been in Toronto for about a year but there are a couple of locations. I almost suggested going there saturday night but then decided against it because of our overall health. It is called “Smoke’s Poutinerie”. They have almost 20 different types of Poutine on their menu. Here is the website: http://smokespoutinerie.com/
Here is an exerpt from a Toronto Star review that you can find through the website:
“Most people would want to consume fries on the spot, but a good chunk of the crowd are bringing the murderous mounds back to their cubicles.
True to the young man’s word, the gravy and cheese remain warm 10 minutes later and some of the fries are even still crispy.
Often I eat alone in restaurants. Like a sassy, undersexed sitcom neighbour, I do a lot of eavesdropping. Two topics keep coming up at Smoke’s.
One is that the portions are large. True, I notice, glancing around the room, that these portions are rarely finished. The second topic is the drunkard’s relationship to the dish. Often overheard are comments like “This would be so good if I were drunk,” or “The best poutine I ever had was at so-and-so’s, though I was really drunk.”"
O’Bobaghue’s
October 16, 2009I heard a couple of years ago that my cousin openned up a bar down in the ‘chi. He already had a carpenter’s business and a bed and breakfast. I thought the bar was a small business, just a hobby or something. But when I went there my first night there, it was wall-to-wall people. There was a cover. There was a live band playing and lots of beer flowing.
We ended up at the bar all three nights (even after the wedding reception). The third night we went with our uncle (father of the owner) who even paid cover (some guy tried stopping us from paying cover after the fact but we said forget it). That night we also saw the newly married couple at the bar. It was fun seeing my cousin’s business doing so well. Some pretty girls there too. Hopefully the above pictures are posted fine.
Zombieland
October 15, 2009After getting to New Brunswick and getting settled in, I told you we went to see a movie, the movie we went to see the movie Zombieland. Now my brother had already seen the movie, but he enjoyed it so much that he wanted us all to go see it. So myself and two of our cousin’s kids joined my brother at the movie theatre. We arrived in the theatre 5 minutes before showtime and the theatre wasn’t even 20% full (we arrived that late because we had to stop at Bulk barn before going to the theatre). The kids weren’t kidding when they said we didn’t have to rush to get there. But enough about that, now to the movie itself:
- I like Woody, he can be funny. He was funny in this movie.
- I like Jessie Eisenberg. My brother calls him the poor man’s Michael Cera but I have seen Eisenberg do his thing before Cera made it big.
- I love the “Rules” Eisenberg’s characters have for Zombieland. I love how any time somebody broke a rule, the rule was put on in the background.
- I loved the special cameo in the movie and the funny scenes they had with the actor.
Overall it was an enjoyable movie. I am not saying it is “the best” or anything and really it was probably more enjoyable for me because I have been playing a zombie video game lately. Also the trailers before the movie, they were all “end of the world” type movies, one of the was called “The Road”, it looked like a really good one. Viggo was in it.
