Now I know what kind of response this will get from WIGSF, but I am going to report this little bit of news any ways (somebody has to tell him, might as well be a friend?). The Cartoon Network is producing a new CGI Looney Toons for the 21st century, it is airing in the Fall. Here is a blurb on it:
“The new Looney Tunes will star Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck along with familiar characters like Yosemite Sam, Tweety and Sylvester. Each episode will feature a main story and several music videos (Merrie Melodies) warbled by the likes of the Tasmanian Devil. There will also be shorts in which Wiley Coyote chases the Road Runner.
They screened a brief clip from one of these shorts. And while the Coyote and Road Runner look a little different in CGI form, one thing hasn’t changed:
Wiley Coyote still gets squashed.”

Oh my, I just might have to side with WIGSF on this one. Not because of CGI, but because Mel Blanc is dead, and while his son does an admirable job, it’s not the same. The originals aren’t broken and don’t need fixing and this sort of feels like some kind of attempt to appeal to the pockets of those of us who grew up on LT.
Heh, even dolphins can be real jerks. 😉

And to contradict Falcon, the originals are broken. Have you seen them lately on TV? They’re edited for content which may be unsuitable for children. Fuck that shit. I want them to be kept in their original form. (That’s where the DVDs come in handy.)
And to make new ones, why? Would you make a new Romeo & Juliet, or Hamlet or Lear? No. So leave the characters alone! Shakespeare is dead and so is Michael Maltese, Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson, Frank Tashlin, Leon Schlesinger and everybody else who made Looney Tunes worth while.

I can’t tell if you are being serious. They have re-made Romeo & Juliet numerous times. Also I didn’t see it but I am pretty sure a movie called “Hamlet 2” came out in the last couple of years.

Looney Toons ROCK. I’d love to check this out sometime.
And yeah, swimming with anything other than bikini-clad hot chicks is asking for trouble.
