Dis and Dat: Bobette moving in Edition

Because you have been asking, updates on her moving in!

– She hasn’t moved in yet, it is a process.

– She has re-arranged my kitchen…. I can’t find stuff.   Had to call her this morning to find certain objects.

– I threw out a lot of Wizard Magazines… but I kept all the Maxim Magazines.

– Charlotte the senior cat, has already moved in.   She has a different diet and every time I turn around either she is sneaking over to eat Oliver’s food or he is sneaking over to eat her food.

– I had to throw out my favourite coffee table.   I originally got it out of someone’s garbage up at the cottage.   It was a solid table but it was too long for my condo and it has been hiding in the closet for a couple of years.

– Moving some of her stuff to her family’s place this weekend.   I am also going to hide some stuff at my parents place.

Sounds to me like you’re moving in to her place a bit.
She’s moving into your place. It’s her responsibility to get rid of her shit. Living with you means living with your shit, even your garbage-sifted furniture and various other crap you shouldn’t even have in the first place. I mean seriously dude. Garbage at the cottage is just effing nasty. Can’t believe you took that crap home. But what’s done is done. Now it’s home. Now it’s yours. Again, living with you means living with your shit, worts and all. It’s not like she hasn’t seen how you live before moving in. She knew what she was getting into. She should have to make the adjustsment to herself, not to your home.
Remember, that condo is your home. It was your home, alone, before she existed. She has no right to change things. If she says something about your living standards, in one ear and out the other. It’s not your responsibility to listen.
She wants to make changes, it’s very simple. “Here’s what the condo is worth. Gimme half and you can make changes. Until then, you’re just living here on my goodwill.”

Space is needed. I want to make space for her. I will most likely never read those Wizard magazines again. Also if you see some of the new furniture she is bringing in, you might change your tune. You might really enjoy the improvements.

Ah, the ol’ space-recovery act! How I know it well. Bringing two households together is a big job, and takes a long time. Hope it goes well for you both!

Don’t worry, the cats should settle into a routine eventually. Maybe the new will wear off the food and they’ll stop sneak-eating the other’s stuff. 🙂

How do you hide a coffee table in a closet? LOL I have visions of your coffee table saying, “Shh! Maybe no one will find me!” like a kid playing hide and seek. 🙂

Merging 2 lives, and 2 living spaces, into 1 is not always an easy task. Both sides have to make adjustments. You seem pretty accommodating. 🙂 Your parents will probably call you in a couple of years and insist that you come get your stuff though. 😉

Good luck on all the changes coming your way. 🙂

I got a roommate this month and I’ve been getting rid of bags and bags and bags of trash and stuff the kids left behind. I can’t believe all the crap I’ve accumulated. There’s nothing like moving or having someone move in to make you get rid of the things you really don’t need.
