This Week in Softball

On Sunday, we got our asses handed to us in our last regular season game.

Friday was tough.   After being at the hospital for a couple of hours when we couldn’t do anything else, we ended up going to our game.   We didn’t tell the team about our Grandfather before the game.   We didn’t want distractions for them and honestly, the game was suppose to be a distraction for us.   We hit well and made plays but the play of the night was when my brother came up with bases loaded.   He hit the ball really deep…. foul.   On the next pitch he straightened it out and hit it a mile.   I was on base I went around the bases and when my brother got home, I gave him a small hug.   It felt so good, I don’t know if my brother did but I dedicated that home run to my Grandfather.   We won the game, I got the last out.

Last night, we played against the 2nd place team with the top spot on the line.   It was a back and forth game, with us getting the lead and then the other team getting the runs back.   They had a 2-run lead with the game on the line.   We got our fastest runner on base.   Then our 2nd fastest hit a ball between the outfielders.   He made it all around the bases to tie up the game!   We loaded the bases and had our struggling big guy up.   He usually doesn’t swing at the 1st pitch.   He saw the 1st pitch was a perfect pitch and he hit it right through the infield for the win.   We hooted and hollared and celebrated afterwards with a BBQ in the parking lot.    We got first place with a record of 22-8.   Playoffs could start next week.

Congratulations! I’m sorry this joyous occasion comes on the heels of such a hard and heartbreaking time, but it’s still something you can be happy about and proud of. Nice work, guys!

How awesome for you! Woo for the win! I’m so happy for you. 🙂

Winning that game on Friday, sounds like it was just what you needed to distract yourself and do something to try to feel better in some way. 🙂
