Failure

January 23, 2012

- Cundiff failed to tie the football game with time winding down.  Hell, Lee Evans almost had a touchdown.

- Kyle Williams must feel like an idiot fumbling that ball and giving the opposition the win.

- I failed in the $80 challenge this week.   A $40 dinner on tuesday with my brother and a friend got me off to a horrible start.  I still tried hard but then on saturday night we went out for a friend’s birthday and spent another $40.  If I had gotten Bobette to pay for saturday night I might have achieved the challenge but I decided to be a gentleman.

- Oh crap, I just noticed, I failed to fit the word “sandwich” into the content of my post.

NFL Playoffs

January 17, 2012

I am happy to see that this whole Tebow thing is over with for now.  There are only four teams left and one of those teams is my 2nd favourite team: the Ravens.   I hope Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis sandwich Brady with a sack or two on the weekend.   I am rooting for the 49ers in the other game but i don’t care as much about that game as I do about the other.   I think both games could be really good ones.   The Ravens really need Flacco to step up this weekend.   Meanwhile, the Giants looked great on sunday, Alex Smith needs to have another amazing game in order for him to get to the superbowl.    Now yes, I know that we are most likely going to see a Pats-Giants superbowl but I can hold on to hope for something different right?

$80 Challenge Results from Week #1

January 16, 2012

On saturday I was running low on money.  But I survived the week.   Here is how I remember the week going down:

Monday: Pizza at lunch $4

Tuesday: Groceries $20

Wednesday: Lunch $5, Bought some books $12

Thursday: Lunch $5

Friday:  Late fees at library $2

Saturday:  Mary Browns, “Snack” for me and the Big Mary sandwich for Bobette $15

Total: $63 spent.   Not bad.

I am definitely going to try again this week!   Special thanks to Juice for buying dinner on saturday night.

Quizno’s Closed Down

January 10, 2012

The Quizno’s near my work closed down.  Sounds like they weren’t paying their rent.   That sucks Krissy and I liked going for lunch there.  I love that Chicken Carbonara, it is my favourite sandwich.  I haven’t had one in awhile, I might need to find another Quizno’s location later this week to have one!

It is tough around my work, a lot of new restaurants, a lot of competition for lunch.

$80 Challenge

January 9, 2012

Flipping channels last night we happened to land on “Til Debt do us Part” which is a reality TV show about a woman who helps a couple get out of debt. She usually gets the couples to go on a cash only budget. Bobette and i tried to do the $75 dollar challenge last year, I decided I would try an $80 challenge this week. This means I can’t eat out a lot which means I will have to make lunch and bring it to work. Might have to bring leftovers or make myself a sandwich or something. Going to be tough because I plan on going out to grab a bite with WIGSF later this week. But hey, it wouldn’t be called a challenge if it wasn’t tough.

Dis and Dat – New Year’s Resolutions Edition

January 6, 2012

- I wasn’t perfect last year but I think I did pretty well with my resolutions.  I didn’t purchase cookies all year.  I am not sure if I want to continue that one, but it would probably be good for my health.

- Workout 3 times a week minimum.   I probably started out the year doing well with that one but it definitely fell off during the softball season and when I tried to re-dedicate myself in December… instead I might have done worse.   The Big guy moving to Guelph has really hurt my workout routine.  I need a new one because I need to lose 10-15 pounds.

- The no fast food thing worked for awhile but I eventually went to McDonald’s (probably with my brother or Bobette) or KFC.   Actually damn… I think I got addicted to Burger King mid-summer.   I might need to try this one again.   Maybe I should limit it to McDonald’s.

- I did cut my comic budget but I wouldn’t be surprised if he went back up as the year went on.   I think I need to try this one again.   Time to cut some books for my monthly list.

- Can you suggest any resolutions?   Do you think I should change some of the above ones?   What should I do?

- I really should have written this blog last week.  I could have sandwiched it in between the “Leftovers” post and the Dec. 30th “Dis and Dat”.

Dis and Dat – Christmas Present Edition

December 30, 2011

- New pajamas: It is a nice set, didn’t need them but I appreciate it.

- Air blower for cleaning computers: I used it on my laptop and it isn’t shut itself down once. I guess the air cleaned out a lot of dust and such.

- Walking Dead Board Game: Played this earlier in the week, it was a lot of fun. I was the last survivor standing. The girls I was playing with had both become zombies and were trying to sandwich me in a corner to finish off the game. I evaded them but got eaten by a horde of zombies.

- Shaq book: Interested in reading this one. It might be the next book on my reading list, it is between this and starting “Game of Thrones”.

- Santa was good to me.

Leftovers

December 26, 2011

So it is the day after Christmas, which means it is time to deal with the leftovers. Like:

- The leftover gifts to return to the stores. I bought a gift for Bobette that she already had. I need to return it. I am not crazy, I am not returning it on Boxing Day.

- Leftover chores. We weren’t home for over 24 hours and we had let some rooms get untidy. Got to catch up on stuff.

- Leftove reading that I have been planning on doing. I already started catching up on that. Need to return these books to the library.

- And of course leftover food. We were given leftover dip, pasta, ham (need to make ham sandwiches this week).

Dis and Dat – Christmas Edition

December 23, 2011

- Looked outside this morning, saw what looked like snow on the ground… might have been just frost. I am not sure.

- Bobette keeps talking about how she is sad that her Christmas decorations are in storage this year. I am working a half-day today and plan on going to her Grandparents place, grabing the decorations and decorating the place before she gets home from work. It will be a great surprise… I just hope Oliver doesn’t break everything.

- The Jays getting Yu Darvish would have been a great Christmas present to Jays fans. I hope Ranger fans have a Merry Christmas.

- Went to Bobette’s work Christmas party last night. It was fun but man they party late on a “school night”. Didn’t get home until 1:30am and I still dragged myself to work for 9am. The party has good food, we dipped bread in some melted cheese. So good. Kindof proves that bread isn’t just good for sandwiches, toast and garlic bread. Damn… now I want garlic bread.

- Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope everyone has a safe and happy holidays!

5 Things I am excited about this season in the NBA

December 22, 2011

1. I am excited to see what is going to happen with Dwight Howard. They say he wants out of Orlando and lots of teams want him. I have no idea where he will go but I know there isn’t a team in the league who wouldn’t love to have him. I hope he goes to a team in the Western Conference.

2. Knicks fans love their team, they think Chandler could change everything. I really like Chandler but i am not a fan of their team with Melo and Amare leading it. I think they will make the playoffs but they won’t be the contenders some Knicks fans think they will be.

3. I am excited for the new rivalry between the Clips and Lakers. I think the Clippers can finish above the Lakers in the standings and they will be considered the more exciting team on top of it. It isn’t just Chris Paul, they have also added Reggie Evans, Caron Butler and Billups. That is some toughness. Which makes what happened last night even more exciting, during a pre-season game, the Laker, Matt Barnes, pushed Blake Griffin. Some pushing and shoving happened but nothing big overall but if the two teams continue to feud with each other, we could see a knuckle sandwich coming one of the next times these teams meet.

4. What happens with Steve Nash? I think the Suns are going to drop in the standings and with Nash being a free agent and getting quite old, I think they will be forced to trade him this season and to rebuild. I am curious where he will be traded to and what the Suns can get for him. Will Steve win a championship with a contender?

5. Can the Raptors finish last? Or are the Bobcats somehow worse than the Raptors? I am hoping for a top pick although the Hornets could get lucky in the lottery if their owners want them to get the top pick. It can be exciting at the bottom of the standings too!
