“
Campbell went on to criticize the portable cassette player’s size, appearance, functionality and the “hissy backtrack and odd warbly noises.”
Even when he discovered the cassette had more music on the other side (it took him three days), Campbell was still disappointed it could only hold a small fraction of what an iPod can.
“Did my dad … really ever think this was a credible piece of technology?”
Ouch.”

Are kids that out of touch that they don’t know what tapes are and don’t understand how far technology has come over the last 30 years? I guess we should just feel blessed that we have seen a lot of the technological advancements as they happened.

The original Aunt Viv, is writing a tell-all book about the time she spent on the TV show “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. It seems she says that Will Smith couldn’t handle any one out-shining him on the show. Actors who were better than him or funnier than him either got fired or weren’t hired. It sounds to me like sour grapes, we all know that she got fired off the show for some reason. I don’t think the reason has ever been confirmed but one of the rumoured ones was because she clashed with Will. Now I am not saying he wasn’t at fault here but he was a young actor, hell he wasn’t truly considered an actor yet. I don’t blame him, I do find it funny that she faded away and nobody knows her real name. Shows what her celebrity status is. I guess this book could make her more relevant but I am unsure. In the end, I think it is sad because I think she was leaps and bounds the better Aunt Viv of the two. She seemed smarter, more intelligent and a classy woman not like the other one. If only they could have tried harder to work together, the show could have been much better.
Note: The book will be released in 2010.

So I was hanging out at Boston Pizza with my baseball team on tuesday. I was talking with some of the guys and I saw a crowd of girls from our team playing one of those weird video games you find in a bar. I looked from across the room to see what they were playing and I thought I saw a naked woman on the screen. Needless to say I walked over to get a closer look. They were playing a game where you have to spot the difference between two photos (ex. http://www.spotthedifference.com/Tram). When I got there they had found 4 of the 5 differences. I then mentioned that in one of the pictures the girl was missing a breast. I found myself playing the game for almost another hour with four of my teammates (3 of them girls). They told me at one point that they picked naked women because they felt that was the only way to get guys to play with them. I wasn’t complaining. But it did get late so I eventually had to leave. When I left we had the top 6 high scores on the game. I want to play some more.

Sure I could talk about how WIGSF actually complimenting me on the results from my dieting and such because it was quite surprising when he typed the words. But the true compliment, the one that felt really good was when I was at my Grandparents a couple of days ago and my Grandfather complimented me on my weight loss. It was good to hear because over the last couple of years he has been ragging on my Grandmother every time she told me to “Mange! Mange!” and every time she tried to give me seconds or thirds. Now I need to bring a girl over and get him to stop talking about this girl he thinks he knows.

My 3-pitch team had its championship game last night, you guess by the title of this blog that it did not go well. I might have screwed up once or twice as a base coach (I was being aggressive and we lost by a couple of runs. But we had our chances, we had a couple of good hitters up with nobody out and a runner on in the last inning. Sucks although as an individual I played well I was 2-2 with a sac fly and never really had the ball hit to me. Our outfield got pounded. But hats off to the opposition they were a good team.
I was planning on quitting the 3-pitch team but I am unsure if I want to go down like this. I really need to cutback on my sports this summer but it is tough, I don’t want to let anyone down and I like these people so much.

Right now I am getting dating advice from two main people. One is a woman, one is a guy. The guy does alright with the women, he usually is going “steady” with somebody so he probably knows some things. But he also seems to believe in a lot of dating games which I think are all bullshit. He use to talk about the “Date Doctor” or something. He says, I shouldn’t listen to the female advice. He doesn’t give a concrete reason why. I am not sure who to listen to right now, in the end, I am going to be following my own way but I still want good ideas on when to call/text and whatever.
A good example was last night, the guy told me “Do not talk to her on the phone for a long length of time, you are calling to set a date, not be her friend.” Meanwhile beyond email I have never talked to this girl so I thought talking to her for a bit on the phone would make us both comfortable. I tried to do something in-between. Speaking about the girl’s advice, she went on vacation so I am not getting any advice from her for the next couple of days. I may screw it up before she gets back.

At the Argo game last night, in the 3rd quarter an Argo player was returning a kick and he seemed to find a hole, the crowd’s excitement started to rise and then it fell very quickly as two of the oppositions players close the hole by sandwiching the Argo. The players got up off the field and started heading to opposite sidelines but then one of them noticed the Argo was still facedown on the turf. EMS, traniers, doctors rush out the field and start doing their thing.
The minutes pass and then one of my friends says, “Maroon 5 really?” I hadn’t really noticed but playing over the stadium’s speakers was a Maroon 5 song. My friend felt it was bad form to play music while a guy’s career, his life could be in the balance on the field. I countered that silence would be even worse, most of the fans were silent watching, the players from both teams were huddled around most on one knee waiting for the guy to be either carted off or for him to magically get up. A couple of songs later they played “Dream On” by Aerosmith, that was kindof weird with the circumstances, the song suddenly felt depressing. Eventually the guy was carted off the field, people clapped and play resumed.
But what should the stadium do in that kind of circumstance? Did they do the right thing? I don’t think that they had someone programing the music song by song, it isn’t like some guy said “Hey let’s play Maroon 5 now!”, it was probably just a pre-conceived order for stoppages in play. It is a tough question.

I know it sounds like vulgur. But it isn’t. It is a type of wheat grain that when cooked tastes like rice but it is much healthier. I tried it a week or two ago and liked it. So I bought some and cooked it twice over the last week and it turned out good. It is suppose to be a natural weight loss food. Tastes like rice and it is a natural weight loss food? I think I am in love!

I am not talking about the playoff series on TV last night. I am talking about playoffs in my 3-pitch league. After blogging about failure two weeks ago (http://whataboutbobb.wordpress.com/2009/05/27/what-a-difference-a-division-makes/), I am happy to say that going into last night’s game we still had a chance to make the playoffs. Although my knee was hurting me beforehand, I knew that I had to be a positive factor in the game. I was surprised to find out that I was batting fifth behind my brother. This was not a role I was use to. But I responded well with two triples and a double and probably something like 4 rbis. Last night we beat the top team in the league. Playoffs start next tuesday and we are confident!

More like the last two weeks. I played something like 10 straight days of sports and something like 13 out of 14 days. For over half of it my knee was swollen and the swelling wouldn’t go down because I never rested it. I finally got to rest it on sunday and instead of playing sports, I ate. By this time yesterday I felt a great deal fatter and my scale agreed after work. So instead of taking yesterday off too I decided to hit the gym for a bit. I think that helped a lot. I hadn’t been to the gym in awhile.
Tonight I am back to playing sports again, I have a big 3-pitch game tonight with our playoff lives on the line, tomorrow my York team has its winning streak put to the test, thursday my basketball team plays its final game of the spring season and then friday is men’s league again. Back to the grindstone!
